PRELUDE

WELCOME

LIFE & WORK OF THE CONGREGATION

CALL TO WORSHIP
As we gather here today, may the peace of Christ be upon this house of worship.
As we come together, may God’s peace rest on us as we listen to the message, sing songs of praise, and give thanks.
May our time together ignite in us a desire to go out and share the peace and love of Christ with others.
Let us worship God, singing and praising God’s wonderful love for all
(written by Stephanie Richmond, Gathering: Pentecost 1 2021 p.38)

WE GREET EACH OTHER WITH THE PEACE OF CHRIST
~ those present online are invited to use the chat function on YouTube,
~ those present in person are invited to turn and greet the people around you as we all exchange words of peace

LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE
As the candle flame flickers to life then burns with a steady glow
So may the Spirit move in and around us so that God’s light would shine through us.
Opening ourselves to the breath of the Holy Spirit, we centre ourselves for worship.

OPENING PRAYER
Wisdom of God, we awaken and the day calls to us.
May we find you in our days.
We gather here, and your Spirit calls to us.
May we find you in our midst.
When we worship, we experience the world as you experience it
where your word and the world lead us today.
Amen                                    (written by Robin Wardlaw, Gathering: Pentecost 1 2021 p.43)

Gathering Hymn  –  MV 1         Let Us Build a House (1L)

WE SHARE AS GOD’S CHILDREN THE BIBLE’S STORY IN WORD AND IN SONG:

A TIME FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART

PRAYER FOR AND ASSURANCE OF GRACE
Gracious God,
so often we have a fear of missing out –
missing out on social events,
or missing out on the latest brand products,
or missing out on the most modern updates to our stuff.
Focusing on the siren calls of consumerism and status, we can easily miss out on your most powerful gift – love.
Work within us, creating and re-creating God, showing us our place and our purpose in walking humbly with you

                                              …time of silent prayer…

Hear this Good News!
We are worthy because God first loved us.
Because we are so completely loved, we learn how to love.
We are worthy of love so we can love ourselves.
Knowing how to love, we can risk loving others just as Jesus loved.
In this loving is our forgiveness, In the power of love we become ever more whole.
Thanks be to God!
(written by Gord Dunbar, Gathering: Pentecost 1 2021 p.46, Adapted)
